Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from Moshi or Arusha, followed by a scenic drive through the lush countryside to Marangu Gate (1,860m), the starting point of your trek. Upon arrival, your guide will complete the necessary park registration formalities, and you’ll receive a short briefing about the climb before beginning your ascent.

After approximately 4-5 hours of hiking, covering 8 km (5 miles), you’ll arrive at Mandara Hut (2,720m), your accommodation for the night. This wooden hut camp provides bunk beds, dining areas, and shared bathroom facilities, offering a comfortable rest before continuing your journey.

Day 2: Mandara Hut → Horombo Hut (3,720 m)

After an early breakfast at Mandara Hut, you’ll continue your ascent toward Horombo Hut, leaving behind the dense rainforest and entering the heath and moorland zone. The vegetation gradually changes as towering trees give way to giant heathers, lobelias, and everlasting flowers, creating a surreal and picturesque landscape.

The hike covers 12 km (7.5 miles) and takes approximately 6-7 hours at a steady pace. Upon arrival at Horombo Hut (3,720m), you’ll be welcomed by expansive views of the mountain’s peaks. This hut is larger than Mandara and serves as an important acclimatization stop for climbers.

This extra day helps your body adjust to the altitude, improving your summit success rate. Today is dedicated to acclimatizing and ensuring your body adjusts comfortably to the altitude, thereby increasing your summit success rate. You’ll spend a relaxed day at Horombo Hut, with an optional invigorating hike to the striking Zebra Rocks (4,020 m). This unique excursion not only offers breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s rugged terrain but also enhances your physical adaptation in a scenic setting. After your optional trek, return to Horombo Hut to refuel and rest, preparing you for the challenges ahead.

Upon arriving at Kibo Hut, take the time to rest and recover, gearing up for the demanding midnight summit push ahead.

Start the final ascent at midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak for sunrise! After celebrating, descend to Horombo Hut for the night. At midnight, embark on your final ascent toward Uhuru Peak, timing your climb so you can greet a breathtaking sunrise at the summit. Revel in this triumphant moment as you celebrate your achievement, then carefully descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved night of rest.

Once you reach Marangu Gate, a transfer awaits to take you safely back to Arusha, where your unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure comes to a close
